High Temperature Resistant Centrifugal Pump Installer
Quick understanding of centrifugal pump

What is the working principle of centrifugal pump.

Centrifugal pump is widely used in chemical production. Room temperature liquids such as ethylene glycol and water are transported by centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is driven by an electric motor, the pump body and the suction pipe are filled with liquid, the motor drives the impeller to rotate at a high speed, and the impeller drives the liquid between the blades to rotate together, due to the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the outer edge of the impeller and flows out along the discharge outlet with a higher pressure. at the same time, a certain vacuum is formed at the center of the impeller due to the liquid being thrown out. On the other hand, the pressure at the liquid surface of the inlet tank (hot well, flume, tank, etc.) is higher than that at the center of the impeller, so the liquid in the tank enters the pump under the action of differential pressure. The impeller rotates constantly, and the liquid is continuously inhaled and pressed out. Because the centrifugal pump is able to transport liquid, it mainly depends on the role of centrifugal force, so it is called centrifugal pump.

Second, what is the air binding phenomenon of centrifugal pump.

From the installation position of the ethylene glycol circulating pump in the hot well of each vacuum system, it can be seen that the pump is installed at the bottom of the hot well and maintains a certain position difference with the hot well, and the connection between the inlet pipe of the pump and the pump body is also provided with a variable diameter (size head). All these are to ensure that the pump body is filled with liquid. When the centrifugal pump starts, if there is no liquid filling or dissatisfaction with liquid filling in the pump, there will be air in the pump shell, because the air density is very low. The centrifugal force produced by rotation is small, so that the low pressure formed in the central area of the impeller is not enough to suck the liquid in the storage tank into the pump, even if the centrifugal pump is started. This phenomenon is called air binding, which means that the centrifugal pump has no self-priming capacity, so it must be filled with liquid into the shell before starting.

Third, why should the check valve be installed at the outlet of the centrifugal pump.

In production, sometimes there will be power outages, motor failures and other problems, resulting in a sudden outage of running equipment, the installation of a check valve at the outlet of the centrifugal pump is to prevent the sudden outage of the pump, the liquid in the outlet pipe will not flow back into the pump, resulting in the reversal of the impeller, resulting in impeller loosening, mechanical seal damage and other problems.

IV. Motor current overload of centrifugal pump.

It is a standard practice for the centrifugal pump to start the pump with the outlet valve fully closed, because the shaft power of the motor is low when the flow rate is 0, thus reducing the starting current of the pump. if the outlet valve is not closed, it is easy to cause the starting current of the pump to be too large. the motor is overloaded and jumps to stop.
